2026 COUNTY CLOSED CHAMPIONSHIPS COMPLETES WINTER SEASON

Returning to Hunts County Squash Club and an end of season event, the 2026 Redmayne, Arnold and Harris Cambridgeshire County Closed Squash Championships was a huge celebration of squash in Cambridgeshire. Nearly 70 players represented clubs and colleges from across the whole county.
Redmayne, Arnold and Harris continued their amazing support of the championships, with the title sponsorship enabling The Sports Academy to create the standard of event fitting for a county contest. Nine categories ranging from Open to Women’s Over 60’s were contested over three days of matches:

Mixed Open Champion: Diego Pita (Hunts County SC). Rob Dadds (Hunts County SC).
Runner-Up: Rob Dadds (Hunts County SC).
Women’s Open Champion: Emily Fuller (Hunts County SC). Runner-Up: Sarah Penfold
(Cambridge SC).
Mixed B-Grade Open Champion: Jamie Woor (Ely SC). Runner-UP: Matt Dixon (St.Ivo SC).
Women’s B-Grade Open Champion: Michella Pita (Hunts County SC). Runner-UP: Lucy
Hilton.
Women’s Over 40 Champion: Lizzie Kilsby (Hunts County SC), Runner-Up: Sarah-Jane Hilton

Men’s Over 45 Champion: Andrew Armstrong (Cambridge SC). Runner-UP: Colin Griggs
(Hunts County SC)
Women’s Over 50 Champion: Babs Moore (Hunts County SC). Runner-UP: Vinette Irving
(Hunts County SC)
Men’s Over 55 Champion: Vinod Duraikan (Melbourn SC). Runner-Up: Santiago Uribe-Lewis
(Newmarket SC).

Tournament director, Colin Griggs of The Sports Academy said “It has been an awesome event, with a great mix of community spirit off court, and hard competition on court! To see some of our best juniors involved in the senior championships, and doing so well, is another massive positive. Well done to Diego, Michella and Lucy….who is only 13 years old!”

Squash is so accessible. Two players, very little kit, indoors and easy to get started and have fun.
