We organise monthly box leagues, which are a perfect way to meet new people of a similar standard. With over 20 boxes and over 100 players playing each month, there is something for everyone. Whilst the higher boxes are relatively competitive, most of the players involved are simply looking to have a good game of squash and to meet a variety of opponents.
Club night is another ideal way to meet new people to play and train with. Supervised by our two top coaches, Ali and Richard Loke, at club night you will be able to work on your consistency and accuracy through drills, before playing some informal games with other club members.
We have over 35 women playing at the club, with female beginner sessions running weekly on Thursday evenings. For more experienced women, we have a ladies’ team competing in the Cambridgeshire league. We have a really active women’s section, and have regular ladies’ nights and other fun social events.
For aspiring players, Swavesey also has two men’s teams in the Cambridgeshire league: the 1sts in Division 1, and the 2nds in Division 4. Some of the best players in Cambridgeshire play and train at the club, including Ali Loke, ranked 76 in the world, our head pro.
We also have a junior programme running on Saturday mornings which is suitable for children aged 6-15. The main focus is on the kids enjoying themselves while developing hand-eye co-ordination, movement skills, and squash technique.
Swavesey Squash Club has one of the most competitive membership packages in Cambridgeshire, with membership fees fully inclusive of court fees, as well as off-peak, household, and junior options.
These prices include all of the above activities [excluding the junior programme] as well as unlimited court bookings, with no additional charges. As a not-for-profit members’ club, we strive to offer the best value possible for our members, but we do rely on membership income to cover our running costs, as well as maintenance and repairs. We truly appreciate the support of our members in helping us provide this community squash facility.
Payment can be made by bank transfer or cash. Monthly payment by standing order or direct debit is available on a rolling basis without additional charge.
Cambs Squash promotes the playing of squash and racketball in Cambridgeshire. We train, select and manage County teams, organise County Championships, provide opportunities for junior players to develop and progress in the game, run a County-wide club league and promote training for coaches and referees.
